Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our Solar Energy service.
-
Is my building suitable for a solar installation?
Most commercial and industrial rooftops in Malaysia are suitable for solar PV. Key factors we assess during a site survey include available roof area and orientation, structural load capacity, shading from nearby structures or equipment, existing electrical infrastructure and your daytime electricity consumption profile. We provide a written feasibility report with a system size recommendation, estimated annual generation and financial projections before any commitment is made.
-
How does Net Energy Metering work in Malaysia?
Under Malaysia's Net Energy Metering programme, surplus solar electricity generated by your system and exported to the TNB grid is credited against your electricity bill at the prevailing NEM rate. This offsets your import costs and reduces your net electricity bill without requiring battery storage. We manage the full NEM application process with TNB on your behalf, including system registration, meter upgrade and commissioning sign-off.
-
What is the typical payback period for a commercial solar system?
For commercial and industrial installations in Malaysia, typical simple payback periods range from 5 to 8 years depending on system size, electricity tariff category, self-consumption ratio and available financing. Systems generally carry 25-year panel performance warranties, meaning the majority of a system's operating life generates savings after payback. We provide detailed financial models including IRR and NPV calculations as part of our proposal.
-
Can you maintain a solar system that was installed by another contractor?
Yes. We provide solar O&M contracts for existing installations regardless of the original installer. Our onboarding process includes a system health inspection covering panel condition, inverter performance, cabling integrity and monitoring platform status. We then provide scheduled preventive maintenance including panel cleaning, inverter checks and performance data review, with reactive call-out included for fault resolution within agreed SLA timeframes.
